Quick Bio;
Name: Seth
Canon: The French comic Radiant
Age: 17
Personality:
• Airheaded
• Driven
• Straightforward
• Kind
• Energetic
• Determined
• Occasionally vengeful
An odd orphan raised apart from society due to the discrimination against the Infected, Seth is a good kid who wants to make the world a better place. He makes up for what he lacks in conventional social skills with a direct, irresistible enthusiasm for life.
The discrimination Seth has faced, and his incredibly lonely childhood, has shaped his personality.
Due to being isolated for his own protection, he has little in the way of boundaries and conventional social norms. His forthright approach to life doesn't waver under any pressure—he tends to view laws and rules as optional if he doesn't personally agree with them. It's nearly impossible for him to fit in, but on the other hand, he accepts everyone as they come without preconceived notions. He can find something to like about almost everyone he meets.
His lonely childhood has also shaped his sense of humor, and he deliberately plays up his sillier side most of the time. He drops it when it's time to get serious, but he presents himself as a goofball for two reasons. Firstly, he feels it can put people at ease and convince them he's not dangerous (or cause dangerous people to underestimate him). Secondly, his mother figure is intensely severe and grouchy, and he considers times he's made her laugh to be his happiest memories. It's a way to be liked.
Seth's discriminatory past, including undergoing a near-fatal witch trial as a young child, has given him some serious issues around vengeance. He fantasizes about revenge on "ordinary" non-Infected people, and it's not just lip service. He wants it so much that, at one point, his desires synchronize with a spell meant to kill a town, to the extent that the magic considers him an ally. However, he adheres to the words of his mother figure that a person is not born human—they become one. He works hard to be a good kid and succeeds for the most part. His general impulses are to leap to the defense of the downtrodden and otherwise be kind. But he doesn't trust himself with great power and fears becoming the monster others accuse him of being. When push comes to shove, he wants to help everyone.
Between his isolation, discrimination, and questions as to who and what exactly he is, Seth yearns for approval and friendship.
Seth isn't competitive and considers rivalry stupid. He's motivated by achieving his goals for the greater good, has little personal pride, and is not concerned with personal power. He'd rather get along with people.
On a comical note, Seth is really bad at identifying animals due to having seen very few. He usually mixes them up, such as calling elks otters and ducks turtles.
A bit short for his age, but toned and fit.
History:
An orphan child of mysterious origins, Seth's parentage is unknown, but he apparently came into contact with a Nemesis as an infant, a strange monster that falls from the sky, that kills most who make contact with it. Those who survive undergo a mutation called an infection, in Seth's case goat horns, but gain the power to use magic. Those who do are called wizards.
Seth was raised by a Nemesis hunter by the name of Alma, who kept him safe and away from the people who discriminate against the Infected. He longed to gain acceptance, and after his fateful first battle against a Nemesis, he chose to seek out and destroy the possibly mythical source of the monsters—the Radiant!
As the story progresses, it becomes clear he is not ordinary, even by Infected standards, and his origins come into question. Despite conflicts with the Inquisition, wizards with dark intentions, and mysterious "brothers" with horns and abilities like him, he focuses on his goal. Destroying the Radiant would bring an end to the problems at the root.
Abilities:
Seth is a wizard and is able to use the Fantasia in the air to cast spells. He is still in training as a wizard but is talented and grows quickly. He possesses the abnormal ability to use Fantasia with his bare skin, not needing equipment. His body is, in a way, a magical object itself. He's a quite talented wizard in general and learns new skills and spells when he turns his mind to them.
Titan Punch: A devastating and simple punch that can crush tanks, stone, etc.
Repell: Creates a small shield. A common spell.
Meteor Drops: A spell borrowed from a teacher. Creates multiple, relatively weak impact blasts.
Skull Poke: First original spell. Larger, more focused impact blast.
Skulls Burst: Multiple Skull Pokes layered up, to give a wider range and greater impact.
Pulsar: Unleashes a wide and powerful shockwave. Described as packing more of a punch than Skulls Burst.
Repulse: Conjures a spherical shield around himself.
Fantasia Aura: By wrapping himself in Fantasia, he can improve his agility and protect himself.
Flight: A more advanced version of the Fantasia aura. By manipulating Fantasia in the air, he can fly.
Book: A common spell that normally requires special scrolls to seal and release items and living things. Seth can use his skin, or the wood of his plants, where they look like tattoos. By instantly booking and releasing something through his wood, he can teleport himself and others through the wood.
He is unusually strong and athletic, even without magic. He's got a Spider-Man style agility and can do some breakdancing stuff.
After training as a shaman, Seth possesses the ability to telepathically communicate with others through the Sidh—the unified plane of mentality, able to draw people into the mental world to share memories or senses. His shaman training also grants him incredibly sharp senses and movements by being in touch with the world around him, which works very well with his formless, adaptive combat style. He's still learning, but he's also learned a degree of control over the natural world. While his teacher can create mountains, Seth can throw rocks. He's better at growing and controlling plants and can go large. He primarily uses his right hand to channel shamanic power, and he can undergo a partial transformation that turns the arm into a wooden substance that can grow, change shape, and absorb Fantasia. Seth is part plant, including having sap in his blood.
An as-yet-unknown source of power lies within him, which, when accessed, causes him to become significantly more powerful but at the risk of going berserk. Losing control doesn't appear to be an innate part of the power—but when he accesses it, a strange external force attempts to take control of him. After his shaman training, he can temporarily control the power, though this becomes harder the longer he does and the more emotional he is. He primarily uses his left hand to channel this transformation.
What Seth is precisely is unknown, but it is speculated he and his "brothers" are the first people born Infected.
Note:
I haven't watched the anime version, but it changes a lot of details to make the story lighter and de-ages Seth to 15. Don't trust the Radiant Wiki, which is anime-focused.
